Off the list

For selling clothing with pornographic, violent images of women; for promoting the sexualisation of little girls, for trying to encourage young women to aspire to be Playboy bunnies - I'm crossing these stores off my list of shopping destinations:

The Stupid Filter

“Because the web needs prophylactics for memetically transmitted diseases.” Relevance in search results as in life is based on a series of choices and the ability to filter out what is annyoing, irrelevant and just plain useless. So two programmers in the US are working on developing open source filtering software that is able to detect rampant stupidity in written English.  They know they cannot filter stupidity in terms of concepts but feel that excessive use of capitalisation, text message abbreviations, abuse of punctuation and lol can catch a lot of it. I personally use my brain as a method of filtering stupidity and avoid those sites where I know that the level of discourse isn’t to my taste.  What about you?
